I sighed as I got up. The Penguins just lost. They played good, the other team was just better. I looked at my dad, and we got up. No one was really talking, except for Max. But, well. That goes without saying. I walked over to Max.
"You played good. Don't worry." I said giving him a hug.
"Thanks. I think you need to go give him a hug." Max said pointing to Kris, who was sitting there with his hands in his head.
"Okay." I nodded and started walking over to Kris.
"Hey." I said sitting next to him. He didn't answer.
"Okay, I might not know a ton about hockey. But, I could tell you all played a good game. And, you guys will come back, and win. I promise. Plus, you should listen to your best friend." I said smiling.
He looked up at me with a laugh. He smiled at me. "Thanks." he said.
"Anytime."
"I'm going to go get a shower, thanks again."
"Your welcome." I said getting up. I gave him a hug and he went into the showers.
"Impressive!" Max yelled, and I laughed.
Soon we all got onto the bus to head to the hotel.
I couldn't sleep that night so I went down to the hotel restaurant to get a drink.
"Couldn't sleep either?" I heard Kris ask me as he sat down next to me.
I sighed, "No."
"Want to come with me. Take a walk? Maybe it will get us tired." he said slightly laughing.
"Sure." I said.
He got up and grabbed my hand to help me up.
We walked out of the hotel.
"So, where do you want to go?" I asked.
"Anywhere, let's just walk."
"Okay." I said smiling.
"It's kinda cold out." I said.
"You want my hoodie?" Kris asked me.
"No, that's okay."
"No, take it. I'm not cold." he said handing it to me.
I put it on. "You know, you should just keep it. You always use it." he said laughing.
I smiled, "Thanks."
"No, problem. I only have like ten thousand hoodies."
I laughed, and we continued walking.
I sat down on a bench and Kris sat next to me. "What time do you have practice tomorrow?"
"In the mourning. Around, nine."
"Want to go to lunch again?"
"Sure." he said smiling, that looked perfect under the faint light coming from the street light above us.
"Your smile looks good under the light." I said to him.
He smiled, "So does yours."
"So, um." he said, "Cheyenne told me something interesting." he said, as we started walking again. We got into the hotel and was on our way up to my hotel room.
I sighed, "Great."
We stopped in front of my door. "It's not a bad thing."
"I didn't want you to know."
"Why not?" he asked.
"It's.. just." I started to say.
Just then he started to lean in and I did the same. Just as our lips were about to touch the door flung open revealing Cheyenne.
"Where the hell have you been!" Cheyenne said looking at me.
I looked at Kris. "I.. uh. talk to you tomorrow."
"Okay, bye." he said and left.
I walked into the room and jumped on my bed sighing.
"Well..?" Cheyenne said standing there.
"I took a walk. Why are you even up?" I said.
"I had to go to the bathroom, and you weren't here!"
"Listen! Just go to bed! I'm not a kid. I can take care of myself."
"Fine." she said and got into her bed going to sleep.
I realized I still had Kris hoodie on. I didn't both taking it off. It smelled good.
I woke up the next day around eleven. I hardly got any sleep last night. I got up and got ready to go to lunch with Kris. I heard a knock on the door, it was Kris. I opened it and walked out, to go to lunch.
"Hey." I said looking down.
"Hey." he said back.
"What did you do today?" he asked me.
"Sleep." I said laughing.
"That's good." he said laughing.
"Yeah, I guess."
"So, tell me some funny stories." I said to him when we were sitting down eating lunch.
He laughed. "I got my socks stapled to my locker when I was in the shower." he said.
"By who!" I said laughing.
"Sid! I couldn't believe he did that!"
"Wow, I can't either."
"I also remember when Marc hid in Colby Armstrong's bag and jumped up and scared him."
"That would be funny to watch!"
"Yeah, it was. We have a lot of funny guys on our team?"
"Who? Max? Billy?"
He smiled, "Yes, Matt and Marc, too." "Geno it pretty funny too."
"I can't even understand him!"
He laughed at me. "I know."
We got some desert. I stuck my fork in it, and some of the chocolate splatted on Kris. "Hey!" he yelled. I laughed, "Sorry!"
He took some wimped cream and threw it on me.
"Kris!" I yelled.
"What?" he said acting all innocent.
That started a big fight. Just then Kris leaned in. Our lips almost touched and his cell phone rang. He sighed, and picked up his phone. "Hello?" he asked. "Yeah, I'll be up in a little." "Fine. See you in a bit." "Okay! Bye!"
"Listen, I got to go." he said.
"Okay, bye."
"Bye."
I sighed, before getting up and going to my room.
The next mourning I woke up to the sound of someone knocking on the door.
I saw Cheyenne get up. "Jordan!" she said giving him a hug.
"Hey, Kris." she said. I immediately sat up.
"Hey, Carissa, I invited them over for this mourning."
"Gee, thanks for telling me."
"Welcome!" she said smiling.
"I look like shit." I said to Kris as he came over and sat down on my bed.
"That's okay. I get to see the real you."
I laughed. "What time is it?"
"9:30."
I groaned, "I guess I should get ready. Will you wait here while I get dressed?"
"Sure." he said smiling.
I got up and went to get dressed. When I was done getting ready I walked out around early.
"Hey, want to make our daily lunch into a brunch?" he said looking at his watch.
"Sure, I'll go get my shoes on."
"Let's go somewhere different today." he said.
"Where?"
"I don't know. Let's walk around, we'll find something."
"What time to you have to be back?"
"Three-thirty. So, we have plenty of time."
"Okay!"
The Penguins ended up losing again. Cheyenne got up and went into the locker room. I went over to Max and Cheyenne went to Jordan. When I was done talking to Max I went over to Kris.
"What are you thinking about?" I asked coming up to him.
"You don't care." he mumbled.
"Kris! Don't say that! Of coarse I care!"
"I was thinking about Luc."
"What about him?" I asked putting my hand on his knee.
"I just miss him."
"Oh, I'm sorry. That has to be hard. But, cheer up! You are going to win the Cup. And to do that you have to be happy. Plus, I don't hang out with unhappy people."
He laughed and looked at me. "Thanks. I'm sorry for being like this."
I smiled. "Sure, you are."
He laughed.
"I'm going to go talk to Chey. I'll see you later." I said getting up and starting to walk away.
"Wait!" he said and grabbed my wrist.
He turned me around, and all of a sudden I felt his lips on mine. It was perfect.
I pulled away, and smiled, walking away.
